DUI case for former top Jersey City aide pushed 2 weeks, may pursue new venue

Former Jersey City Deputy Chief of Staff Phil Orphanidis had his drunk driving case postponed two weeks after his attorney claimed he hadn’t received any discovery and unsuccessfully sought a change of venue, claiming the matter had been politicized.

“I, for sure, do not know who Mr. Orphanidis is. It’s my understanding that there was some relationship with the city, I know it still exists. But I have no personal interactions with, I have no personal relationship with him,” Municipal Court Judge Paul Scalia noted during today’s hearing…
