Guirgis drops out as Ambrossi prepares to run for D-4 Hudson County commissioner

Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) member David Guirgis announced he’s dropping out of the Hudson County commissioner race in the 4th District as former Jersey City Ward D council candidate Patrick Ambrossi gears up to run.

“For the past few weeks, I’ve been dealing with some health and personal challenges in ways I didn’t anticipate when I filed to run in January. As much as this hurts me, now is not the right time for me to run the campaign I set out to run or the type of campaign that the people of my home deserve,” Giurgis said in a statement.

“I am profoundly grateful to everyone who showed up for this race — all of our volunteers, everyone in the DSA and the Working Families Party, and every voter who stopped to talk at their door. You took a chance on a different kind of politics in Hudson County. Thank you for being a part of a growing working class movement — we’re building real momentum and none of this happens without you.”
