Jersey City Police Department swears in 28 new recruits at St. Aedans’s Church

The Jersey City Police Department swore in 28 new recruits at a ceremony at St. Aedan’s Church, located at 800 Bergen Ave. in McGinley Square, earlier this afternoon.

“Each and every day, you put your lives on the line to keep our city safe … It is the families and loved ones who sacrifice … it is not a small thing,” Mayor James Solomon explained.

“I believe public safety is the foundation of a just and affordable Jersey City … We can’t have a thriving West Side if residents are afraid.”

He added that police trust must be earned, while the administration must show up for them as well in order for the department to be successful…
