Christ the King Catholic Church, the oldest Black Catholic parish in New Jersey, was standing room only Monday night as more than 400 members of the civic advocacy group Jersey City Together packed the sanctuary. The members, representing about two dozen churches, schools and community groups, gathered to hear Mayor James Solomon make six commitments related to payroll tax collection, tenants’ rights, and the Bayfront redevelopment project.
