KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Work on the water system later this week will trigger a boil water advisory for a Kalamazoo neighborhood.
Crews will shut off the water as the work starts around 8 a.m. Thursday. Once it is back on, a boil water advisory will be in effect for addresses on Lorraine Avenue, Brooklyn Boulevard and Ferdon Road:
Everyone in the affected area should boil their water for two minutes before consuming it. It’s safe to bathe in the water without boiling it.
The work will cause a drop in pressure, which can allow bacteria to enter the system. Authorities will issue the boil water advisory as a precaution. They will then conduct tests to confirm the water’s safety. Assuming those come back OK, they expect to be able to lift the advisory by Sunday…
