MENDON, Mich. — In a Battle of the Swarms, it was Mendon coming out on top over Bridgman Saturday, 6-3, to advance to the regional finals in Division 4 softball.
From there, Mendon propelled its way to another state quarterfinal behind a 6-5 win over Gobles from the home of the Hornets.
Mendon had its backs against the wall in the semis against Bridgman, as the Hornets trailed 3-0 heading into their last at bats. The team stormed back to tie the game at 3 before pushing another 3 runs across in the top of the ninth.

The showdown with Gobles proved to be a rematch for the two schools from late April that saw Mendon come away with a 13-0 win. Despite the closer outcome, Gobles still sees its season come to a close with an overall mark of 30-7…
