SPRINGFIELD, Mich. (WOOD) — A child is safe after being held captive by a woman who was making suicidal threats at a home near Battle Creek Monday, deputies said.
Around 10 a.m., deputies with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office were called to N 22nd Street near Avenue A in Springfield, where a caller reported that a woman had threatened to harm herself and that a 9-year-old child was in the home with her.
Arriving deputies tried to coax the 32-year-old woman out of the home to get mental health treatment. In the doorway, the woman pulled out a gun and ordered deputies to leave the property.
