Waste Watch: Homeowners see property tax bills increase by thousands

VICKSBURG, Mich. — In May, News Channel 3 told you about major tax assessment mistakes in Schoolcraft Township, taking more than $100,000 from parks, roads and other public services.

Late last year, the township admitted those ‘egregious errors’ came from its former tax assessor.

He wasn’t keeping up with home development in the villages of Vicksburg and Schoolcraft, which are both part of the township. Dozens of new properties were taxed far too low for years.
