KALAMAZOO, MI — A Kalamazoo County District Court judge is fighting to get back on the ballot after being disqualified over an issue with an affidavit and a failure to pay $2,025 in late filing fees.
After paying the back fees, filing a nominating petition to get back on the ballot and having that petition rejected by the Michigan Bureau of Elections, Judge Namita Sharma filed suit on Friday, June 12 against the BOE and its director Jonathan Brater.
“The judge has entirely complied with her obligations,” Sharma’s attorney, Mark Brewer, told the Kalamazoo Gazette/MLive. “The reports have been filed. The fines have been paid. There’s no reason why she can’t be on the ballot.”…
