KALAMAZOO, Mich. — On Saturday, Kalamazoo celebrated Juneteenth, with the goal of turning the holiday into something more than a celebration.
The Bronson Park event was sponsored by the Rootead Enrichment Center, a group that offers support for new mothers and creates youth opportunities.

Alongside more than 70 vendors, the stage featured a variety of artistic styles, including spoken word, dance and traditional West African music.
