KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Day after day, a Kalamazoo Navy veteran pays tribute to the country he loves with a saw and a paintbrush.
Dave Garrett creates custom wooden flags, many of which he’s given away to local businesses ahead of America’s 250th anniversary.
He cuts, sands and coats each piece of wood into 13 stripes and a rectangle, crafting each of the pieces into the United States’ most recognizable symbol.
