RICHLAND, Mich. — The Fourth of July usually sees West Michigan residents participating in patriotic, summer festivities. A few hundred people did something different for a good cause Saturday.
Over 400 runners participated in the third annual Kathy’s Run for Cancer in Richland, raising money for cancer research.

Formerly called The Rose Run, the race’s name was changed to honor Kathy Kollig, who was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer three years ago.
Money raised at the event will go towards the West Michigan Cancer Center, the Bronson Cancer Center, and scholarships at Gull Lake High School, which will be awarded to a student that is going into nursing.
