Man charged with shooting at Battle Creek police officer, civilian on Fourth of July

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A Battle Creek man has been charged after shots were fired at a police officer and civilian on the Fourth of July.

Officers were called to Broadway Boulevard, south of Kellogg Street, Saturday night after neighbors reported Michael Munoz had a gun, was shooting into the air and fired five rounds at the road, according to the Battle Creek Police Department and court documents.

When an officer arrived on scene with a civilian, who was participating in a ride-along, they found Munoz, 45, sitting in front of his house.

Munoz then pointed a handgun at the patrol car and fired 2-3 shots, but missed, according to the department. No one was hurt…
