No one is hurt after an attic caught fire in a vacant apartment Monday night.

Portage Department of Public Safety (PDPS) fire crews responded to an apartment fire near Applegrove Lane and Anna’s Lane Monday just before 11:30 p.m.
A police officer in the area arrived first and said they saw smoke coming from the second floor which fire crews later determined to be a fire in the attic area of a vacant apartment unit.
No one is hurt following the fire and damaged is contained to the one unit which PDPS William Graham said he credits to the working smoke alarms that quickly alerted nearby residents…
