EMMETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was arrested and faces charges after police say he crashed his vehicle while assaulting a woman and then fled from police.
The driver allegedly assaulted the woman while he was driving in Battle Creek and crashed, Battle Creek Police Department told the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office. But he then drove off, locking the woman in the vehicle with him.

Soon after, deputies saw the vehicle speeding “recklessly” near Verona Road and McAllister Road in Emmett Township just outside of Battle Creek. Deputies flipped their lights on and tried to stop the vehicle. When it stopped, the woman got out and called to the deputies, telling them to arrest the driver.
The driver sped off and the deputy followed. Eventually, the driver drove off the road into some brush. He was taken into custody, deputies say…
