KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A man accused of second-degree murder in 2023 has been found guilty by a jury, according to a Friday release from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
John Powell Jr, 44, was accused of murdering Tyquincy Tymain Mcferrin, 42, in 2023 after an argument broke out between the two at an apartment complex in Kalamazoo, investigators said.. Powell fired a gunshot through an apartment door, which hit and killed Mcferrin.

In a Sept. 25 decision, a jury convicted Powell of second-degree murder. Powell was also convicted of discharging a weapon at a building causing death, felon in possession of a firearm and three counts of felony firearm.
