KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A church bell that has lied dormant for years will soon ring again.
Allen Chapel AME (African Methodist Episcopalian), the oldest African-American church in Kalamazoo, which is in the Northside neighborhood, has stood since 1913.
Pastor Millard Southern discovered there was a bell in the church tower, and when the church was having electrical work done, decided to ask if the electrician could get the bell up and running again.
