Driver runs away after Oshtemo Twp crash that leaves 1 hospitalized

OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A driver ran away from the scene of a Thursday evening crash in Oshtemo Township that left one person hospitalized, deputies say.

Around 5:30 p.m., deputies with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the area of W KL Avenue and S 9th Street for a crash involving a pickup truck and SUV.

Responding deputies learned that the westbound pickup truck “disregarded” a red light and hit the southbound SUV. The driver of the pickup truck then ran away.

The sheriff’s office said a police dog was called to the scene to track the driver but didn’t find them.

The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, the sheriff’s office said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office at 269.383.8748 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.

The crash remains under investigation.
