Que the Creek brings BBQ back to Kellogg Arena

BATTLE CREEK – Thousands of barbecue lovers flocked to Kellogg Arena on Saturday afternoon where pit masters from all around the Battle Creek area brought the heat for the fourth annual Que the Creek BBQ Festival.

The event, presented by Penetrator Events, the Battle Creek Small Business Development Office and Kellogg Arena, saw 17 local barbecue vendors competing for the honor of best barbecue in town. The event also featured drinks, desserts and live music.

In addition to a blind taste test and ranking by expert judges, attendees were encouraged to vote for their personal favorite barbecue.

As the event wrapped up, the judges’ top honors went to Traveler’s Craft BBQ for brisket, All Bones Catering for pulled pork and Rolling Soul BBQ for ribs. The crown for fan favorite went to Pop’s Family Kitchen in both brisket and pulled pork, as well as Traveler’s Craft BBQ for ribs.

Organizers hope that the event can help pit masters of all levels gain exposure and take their craft to the next level.
