Kalamazoo to revisit spending $1.6M to renovate downtown park

KALAMAZOO, MI — The Kalamazoo City Commission plans to revisit including $1.6 million in the 2024 budget for the renovation of Arcadia Creek Festival Place later this month. On Jan. 22, the commission removed the federal COVID-19 relief funding for the park project from the $288 million budget before it passed after residents opposed the action. Six people criticized the use of funds for what they perceived as an attack on Kalamazoo’s homeless population.
