“Snow or no, we still go” was the motto that echoed through Leila Arboretum during this year’s Festivus Cardboard Sled Competition on Saturday afternoon.
The 16th running of the competition included a sledding hill constructed from gathered snow to allow races to proceed despite the past week of warm temperatures.
Hosted by the Battle Creek Metropolitan Area Moustache Society, rules dictate that sleds be constructed solely from cardboard, paint and adhesives.
Dozens of teams brought their cardboard creations to the hill for hundreds of spectators to cheer on along the race route and from the beer garden refreshment area.
The race stayed true to its motto— even without the usual snowy surroundings, the show went on.
