CALHOUN COUNTY, MI – A Portage man accused of crashing into a tree while he was drunk behind the wheel and killing his passenger has been charged in her death. Deandre Markese Alexander was arraigned, Feb. 5, on one felony count of operating while intoxicated causing death for the death of Evangelina Alvarez, 30, of Kalamazoo.
