PORTAGE, Mich. – A Portage mother was sentenced Monday to spend 22 months to 15 years behind bars for the death of her 1-year-old daughter. “All my years of public service, which has been a long time, I just would like the court to know, probably one of the most heinous scenes I’ve been on to see what had been done to the child,” Lt. Chad Hunt of the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said. “This is a story that will haunt us for a long time I can assure you that.”
