Battle Creek seeks input on Beckley Road corridor

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — The city of Battle Creek is seeking community input as it rethinks the Beckley Road and Lakeview Square Mall area.

The city is working on an assessment project with consultant Progressive AE to consider future possibilities for the Beckley Road corridor, which runs along the road from M-66 to Capital Avenue SW, according to a Thursday release.

Officials say their goal is to “increase the economic vitality and attractiveness of this aging part of the city.” They hope to add housing, find opportunities for day and night uses, enhance the natural environment and improve mobility for cars, pedestrians and public transit.

As the city considers the future of the Beckley Road corridor, it’s asking for community input.

Neighbors can take an online survey, which asks questions about housing, shopping habits, jobs and more. You can access the survey here .

Battle Creek and Progressive AE will also hold a series of public talks via Zoom. Attendees will be able to hear how the assessment is going, ask questions and offer feedback.
