PORTAGE, Mich. – The last time World War II veteran Carl VanHaften went to the prom was in 1943. On Friday, he got the chance to do it again; only this time, he is not a senior at Kalamazoo Central High School and is instead a 99-year-old, bronze-star veteran residing at StoryPoint Senior Living in Portage.
