BCPD: Missing man with dementia found safe

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Police in Battle Creek say a man with dementia who went missing Thursday has been found.

The Battle Creek Police Department asked for the public’s help Thursday afternoon to find Steven Oostindie, 63, who had been seen walking away from the area of Fremont Street and Emmett Street.

He was found safe shortly before 9 p.m., police said.

After a call from a Battle Creek resident, Oostindie was found in the area of Dickman Road and S Washington Avenue, according to BCPD.

He is now home safe, police said. No medical attention was needed.
