KDPS: Cocaine, illegally-possessed weapon at Kalamazoo home

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A felon was arrested after officers found him at a Kalamazoo home with a gun and cocaine, police said.

On Monday, the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team got a tip that a 38-year-old male who was on probation had a gun illegally.

At the home at Portage Street near Lay Boulevard in Kalamazoo, officers found over four ounces of powder cocaine, about a half ounce of crack cocaine and a gun. They also found the suspect and arrested him.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said investigators also found equipment used to make and sell drugs and a “large sum” of money that officers believed were from selling drugs.

The suspect, who police did not name, had previously been convicted of felony weapon charges and was not allowed to have a firearm as part of his probation.

He was booked into the Kalamazoo County Jail and is set to face multiple felony charges, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
