Man accused of driving drunk in deadly bicycle crash near Pullman

ALLEGAN, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was charged for driving drunk in a crash that killed a woman on a bicycle near Pullman.

Joel Rojas-Chanito, 40, was charged with operating while intoxicated causing death, according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies: Bicyclist hit, killed near Pullman; driver arrested

The crash happened around 10:16 p.m. Thursday at 111th Avenue and 55th Street in Lee Township. Chanito was driving an SUV east on 11th Avenue when he hit a bicyclist, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies identified the bicyclist as 50-year-old Tracey Lynn Decker, who died at the scene.

Chanito was arrested near the scene and taken to the Allegan County Jail. It’s not clear when he will be back in court.
