In a remarkable confluence of timing and vigilance, a deer hunter in Southern Michigan has emerged as an unexpected hero in the apprehension of a fugitive. Last Friday morning, on the launch of firearm deer season, the hunter reported a suspicious man near his ATV, unaware that he had stumbled upon the subject of an active manhunt. Michigan State Police along with other law enforcement agencies had been scouring the area for the 28-year-old Battle Creek man wanted for a series of crimes including a violent hit-and-run incident.
