COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Although the flames were out before crews arrived, a Sunday morning house fire is being investigated as arson, according to the Comstock Department of Fire and Rescue.
Around 7:50 a.m., crews were called to a home on Ferris Street near Comstock Avenue in Comstock Township for a fire. When they arrived, firefighters did not see any flames or smoke. But they did find that there had been an “intentionally set fire on the exterior of the house,” according to a release from the department.
The people inside the home had put the fire out before firefighters got there, the department said.
Crews ventilated smoke out of the home and made sure everything was secure. Damage was minimal, according to firefighters.
The fire is being investigated as an arson with the help of the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.
