GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Alex Bump struck for a pair of goals, including the game winner, to help No. 4/5 Western Michigan defeat No. 14/16 North Dakota, 3-2, in overtime on Friday night from a sold-out Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D.
Bump struck just 14 seconds into the extra session, firing a shot through traffic and past the goaltender on the power play to hand the Fighting Hawks (12-9-1, 7-4-0 NCHC) their first loss in 3-on-3 overtime this season and snap a five-game unbeaten streak at home.
Forwards Carter Wilkie (4) and Dylan James (7) each struck for NoDak in the loss, while sophomore goaltender Hobie Hedquist finished with a career-high 31 saves but suffered his first home defeat of his career…
