Three Rivers police warn of phone scams targeting area businesses

THREE RIVERS, Mich. — The Three Rivers Police Department is warning retail businesses to be on alert for phone scams.

Recently, a caller has been calling area businesses during the overnight hours pretending to be the owner, directing employees to withdraw cash from the business and deposit it into a Bitcoin machine, according to police.

“We are asking local businesses, especially those that are open during overnight hours, to educate their employees and provide points of contact for them to prevent telephone scams from occurring,” the department said…
