Complex storm system set to bring severe weather to Michigan tomorrow

A complex storm system is still set to bring the potential for severe weather across Michigan on Wednesday.

Currently much of the Lower Peninsula is under at least a slight risk for severe weather (2 out of 5) with the southern portion of the state south of I-96 under an enhanced risk (3 out of 5).

According to the Storm Prediction Center , much of the state south of M-20 has a 5% tornado risk. The largest risk comes from the severe wind outlook, which gives much of the state at least a 15% chance of seeing severe level wind gusts. There is also a hatched area where wind gusts could exceed 74 mph for areas south of U.S. 10.

“A conditional, potentially potent, severe weather threat could materialize across northern Illinois and into southern Michigan on Wednesday,” the Storm Prediction Center said. “This area, closer to the surface low and beneath the very strong mid-level jet streak, will have a wind profile favorable for all severe weather hazards.”…
