A 43-year-old Springfield man died after being hit by a train Saturday evening, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to the area of N 20th Street and Avenue A in Springfield to a report of a pedestrian hit by a train about 7:13 p.m.
Deputies made contact with the engineer and conductor operating the Canadian National Railway train at the time of the incident, and began canvassing the area along the railroad track. The Springfield man was located beneath the train.
