Kalamazoo to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day with free event at Upjohn Park

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kzoo Parks and the Audubon Society of Kalamazoo are teaming up to host a free event May 10 in celebration of World Migratory Bird Day.

Taking place at Upjohn Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the event includes activities like guided bird walks, local nature art for sale, a create your own bird feeder activity, and informational booths from a variety of local organizations.

The informative bird walks are led by the Audubon Society of Kalamazoo, and will go from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring binoculars if they have them. Extra binoculars will be available for use.

The event takes place during the peak time for spring bird migration in the area. Birds that may appear at Upjohn Park during this time include raptors, warblers, shorebirds, waterfowl, and marsh birds, according to officials.
