PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — One year after a tornado tore through Portage, damaging the Air Zoo’s main storage area for its collection, the museum continues to recover.
Troy Thrash, the president and CEO of the Air Zoo, was taking shelter in the basement of the museum when the storm moved through on May 7, 2024 . It damaged the roof over the storage area.
“Everything looked great in the museum itself, but then coming up here and in our education classrooms, you can see the water flooding, immediately there was obviously great concern over all of these artifacts that you see here,” Thrash said…
