KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo City Commission is giving local law enforcement more tools to crack down on mobile nuisance parties.

One day after a mobile nuisance party turned violent, according to Kalamazoo City Mayor David Anderson, city commissioners made a decisive move to tackle the persistent issue of mobile nuisance parties, known as “X-trains,” unanimously voting to grant the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) special authority to impound vehicles involved in these disruptive gatherings.
The new ordinance allows police to have participating cars impounded on the spot without needing court approval, but in addition to that, allows for police to have reoffending vehicles impounded anytime in the days that follow the party, from any public location.
