Police discuss protocol for handling missing persons who are frequent runaways

CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. — The search for missing 15-year-old Glenn Brown enters one week as authorities continue to investigate his disappearance from Pennfield High School. Brown was last seen leaving the school Wednesday, May 7, before walking into a wooded area.

Deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to several tips from the public Tuesday night, but none of those searches led to any new information, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office continues to actively investigate Brown’s case and is conducting searches, Sheriff Steven Hinkley said. Two community-organized search parties were held Tuesday around Pennfield High School where volunteers distributed flyers with Brown’s photo and description. Sheriff Hinkley emphasized that the search for Brown remains a priority for local law enforcement.

“As more time passes, we are increasingly concerned, because, while Glenn is known to be resourceful in the outdoors, the length of time he has been missing is pushing the limits of what anyone could realistically endure on their own,” according to a news release from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
