Father of man killed in Kalamazoo tries to jump court barrier at murder hearing

KALAMAZOO, MI — During testimony, the father of a man shot and killed outside a Kalamazoo distillery tried to jump over a barrier in the courtroom, disrupting a hearing for the man charged with his son’s murder.

The outburst happened Thursday, May 22, in Kalamazoo County District Court when the father of Montine Wiley Jr. attempted to cross the court barrier. He made it a few feet from defendant Kaiden Cole, who was seated in shackles.
