Michigan Man Charged with Second-Degree Murder After Alleged Drunk-Driving Crash Claims Life of Infant

In a somber unfolding of events in Michigan, 56-year-old Terry Lee Boss has been charged with second-degree murder following a drunk-driving crash that resulted in the death of 8-month-old Lucia Iris Seifried. On April 26, Boss, whose blood alcohol content was reportedly more than double the legal limit, lost control of his vehicle and struck several members of the Seifried family as they enjoyed an evening outdoors. According to FOX 17, Lucia succumbed to her injuries after being hit by the car.

Details from the Kansas City report indicate that Boss was driving at an excessive speed near Plainwell, when he sideswiped another vehicle and plowed into the family’s yard. Lucia’s obituary, as recounted by Kansas City, remembered her love for playing in the grass and her “radiant presence.” As reported by WWMT, the heartbroken parents released a statement saying, “One minute our baby girl was playing in the grass, the next minute she was holding Jesus’s hand.”

During the arraignment, Allegan County Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jessica Winsemius presented concerns to the court, highlighting Boss’ dangerously high alcohol levels at the time of the incident and his six minor prior offenses, primarily traffic-related, as detailed by WWMT.
