KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Nearly two weeks after storms moved through West Michigan, the cleanup continues in Kalamazoo and Ottawa counties.
KALAMAZOO STARTS CURBSIDE DEBRIS PICKUP
On Tuesday, Kalamazoo city crews began the next phase of curbside pickup of trees, branches and limbs. Neighbors on Kalamazoo’s northside neighborhood saw workers remove piles with heavy equipment.
Carl Roberts heard the high winds move through Kalamazoo’s Northside Neighborhood on May 15. He took shelter in the basement with high winds snapping trees all around his home.
“When the storm came through, I had just got home,” Roberts said. “I happen to look out of the door and everything was like black and it was like this roaring noise that I had never really heard before.”
Public Services Director James Baker is asking people to have trees and branches at the curb but not blocking sidewalks, driveways or the street.
