Pepper spray in spit warrants harsher term, court says

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — An inmate who took a blast of pepper spray to the face and then spit on a jail deputy was eligible for a harsher sentence because of the chemical irritant in his saliva, an appeals court ruled.

It’s a somewhat unique twist on the factors used to recommend a sentence.
