Man drowns in lake in Battle Creek, deputies say

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A man drowned on a lake in Battle Creek Saturday, authorities say.

It happened around 5:40 p.m. at the Willard Park beach on Goguac Lake, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says. Members of its Marine Unit deputies were patrolling the lake when the report of a possible drowning came in, so they were able to quickly get to the area where the man had last been seen.

Additional emergency crews from the Area Law Enforcement Underwater Recovery Team, Battle Creek Police Department, Battle Creek Fire Department and LifeCare ambulance soon arrived.
