Kalamazoo to open city hydrants for cooling during heat wave

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Beginning Saturday, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Services and the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) will open a number of water hydrants in the area to help the community keep cool amidst the upcoming heat wave.

The following hydrants will be opened daily from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., according to officials:

  • Behind Interfaith Homes on Interfaith Boulevard
  • Church Street at Norway Avenue
  • Washington Avenue at March Street
  • Burrell Avenue at Lawrence Street
  • Charlotte Avenue at Sherwood Avenue
  • Clarence Street at Jackson Street
  • Krom Street at Clay Street
