Deputies: Suspect caught after motorcycle chase, search

SHERMAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A person on a stolen motorcycle was taken into custody Tuesday after leading deputies on a chase, then ditching the motorcycle and running away, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office.

It happened in the area of Shimmel Road and Storms Road in Sherman Township. Deputies say they tried to stop a person who was operating a motorcycle that had been reported stolen — but the suspect wouldn’t stop, sparking a brief chase.

Eventually, the suspect abandoned the motorcycle and ran away on foot, a release from the sheriff’s office says. Officers established a perimeter, brought out a police dog and deployed a drone. The suspect was found and taken into custody, according to the sheriff’s office…
