Michigan sees drop in DUI arrests, but law enforcement staffing shortages may be a factor

MICHIGAN — A new report from Michigan State Police (MSP) shows drunk driving arrests dropped in 2024, but the decrease could be connected to a shortage of patrols on the roads.

In the agency’s Drunk Driving Audit, data shows there was around a 4% decrease in DUIs last year, which continues a 27% drop since 2014.
