Suspect arrested after break-in at Springfield business

SPRINGFIELD, Mich. (WOOD) — Deputies say they arrested a suspect after a store in Springfield was broken into.

It happened at the Dollar General on Avenue near North Helmer Road. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says deputies sent there around 7:15 a.m. Monday found part of a glass door smashed out. The person responsible was gone.

Deputies say they used surveillance video and witness statements to work up a suspect description. They soon found a man matching the description a few blocks north in the area of Helmer Road and Bishop Drive.

The suspect, a 46-year-old Battle Creek man, was arrested without incident and is expected to be charged with burglary…
