One dead, another hospitalized after suspected drunk driver overturns car doing doughnuts

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — An 18-year-old boy is dead after a car he was in lost control while doing doughnuts in a parking lot.

Responding to a rollover crash around 1:10 a.m. Monday on Irving Park Drive, Battle Creek Police Department (BCPD) and Battle Creek Fire Department (BCFD) crews found an 18-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl from Battle Creek seriously injured, according to BCPD officials.

Initial investigations show the two had been passengers in a vehicle driven by another 18-year-old Battle Creek boy who had been “performing reckless maneuvers” such as doughnuts in a parking lot when he lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over. Alcohol is also believed to be a contributing factor of the crash.

Both passengers were taken to the hospital where the 18-year-old later died and the 17-year-old remains with serious injuries…
