Kalamazoo driver among final winners of Michigan’s ‘Pothole Payback’ contest

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Organizers from Fix MI State, the group responsible for awarding Michigan residents whose vehicles have been damaged by the state’s roads, have announced the final five winners in their “Pothole Payback” contest.

After receiving hundreds of submissions from drivers with pothole repair stories, Fix MI State said the following people –including one Kalamazoo resident– were awarded up to $758 as part of the contest’s June submission period:

  • Elizabeth Driessche of Kalamazoo (Senate District 19) was driving to work and hit a hidden pothole that resulted in multiple flat tires and a damaged alignment. In State Senator Sean McCann’s district, 22.4% of roads are in poor condition.
