Comstock deputy fire chief accused of drunk driving crash

COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Comstock Township fire department deputy chief was arrested last month after police say he hit a girl with his pickup truck while driving drunk.

A police report shows that late on June 21, just before midnight, dispatch had notified deputies with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office that a silver Ford pickup truck had been spotted weaving and crossing in and out of lanes near E Michigan Avenue and N 28th Street.

At 12:01 a.m. on June 22, a deputy who was heading in that area heard that a child had been hit by a vehicle on E H Avenue near Berry Street and went to the scene…
